About half of the U.S. population now listens to podcasts, spending more time than ever listening to them, and the numbers continue to grow. Even better, business podcasts are one of the top genres. Have you thought about starting a podcast for your business or a client?

Spoiler Alert: most podcasts never make it past eight episodes. This presentation will help you understand the potential and pitfalls of starting a podcast and the most important things to know to have a realistic idea of what’s involved in creating a successful podcast.

Who Should Attend?

This will be helpful for business owners and senior executives who have been thinking about starting a podcast as well as for junior-level employees who have been “volunteered” to start a podcast for their company or client.

Douglas Burdett is the host of The Marketing Book Podcast, a weekly interview with the author of a new marketing or sales book that Douglas reads before each interview. In August 2024 the podcast will pass the 500-episode milestone. The show was named by LinkedIn and Forbes — among others — as one of the top marketing podcasts. It has millions of downloads, and listeners in over 185 countries. It is in the top 0.5% of over 3 million podcasts worldwide (source: ListenNotes.com). Before starting his marketing agency in 2001 (from which he recently escaped), Douglas worked in New York City on Madison Avenue at ad industry giants J. Walter Thompson and Grey Advertising. Before starting his business career, Douglas served overseas for three years as a U.S. Army artillery officer and then earned an MBA. In lieu of a mid-life crisis, Douglas started performing standup comedy. He’s all better now, thanks.
